"Hello, I'm Shaquan"

Shaquan is the founder of the Elizabeth Project. An orator, writer, and student of politics and history, he graduated from Brandeis University in 2018. Since his youth, an appreciation for the past has always been apart of Shaquan's identity. Stemming from his own genealogical quests investigating his hometown, which lie at the heart of the U.S. Revolution, his passion has grown into a desire to educate and help others discover their own personal histories, as well. His primary research focuses in on Free People of Color (as a descendant free families himself) of in the Antebellum South and their transition into a wider African American community, following the end of the Civil War.

Through the Elizabeth project, he hopes to use content that is easy to understand, to connect all people (with a specific focus on BIPOC folks) to their personal histories. Under the Elizabeth Project banner, Shaquan is the author of the children's book series E.L. Moran and host of the podcast, "The Genealogical Gentleman". His work has landed him on TEDx Stages and the pages of the NYT's 1619 Project.

Additional Projects: Shaquan has served as a Parliamentary Intern and researcher for Baroness Sal Brinton of the U.K. House of Lords, as well as premier director to Amanda Ehrmann's "My Dearest Monster". He has served as a contributing writer for MTVNews.

The Elizabeth Project

The Story of Elizabeth aka "The Elizabeth Project" is a multimedia project designed to connect average consumers of color, to their personal narratives and histories. Launched in the fall of 2019 and named for the founder's 5th great grandmother, the project aims to place history of folks of color, back into the hands of the families it's been disconnected from.
